Hello! My name is Emily Durning, and I am a senior data major with minors in computer science and political science. I was first introduced to RDS@Pitt through the Responsible Data Science Student Scholars program, where I worked with two other scholars on a framework for responsible Gen AI usage within the university. So far, the work that I have been able to do through my position at RDS@Pitt has been intertwined with the main ideas of this framework and has delved further into how AI is being integrated into the university. Outside of the classroom I am the communications officer for Tech for Good, a responsible tech club that aims to create an interdisciplinary environment to discuss the impacts of technology, and a member of Bookmarked, Pitt’s book club!
