Communities of Practice network HAIL together. There are two types of communities of practice, thematic — which center societal challenges and approaches that leverage many distinct responsible data science approaches and tools — and infrastructural — which focus on educational, research, or ethical and responsibility structures that cut-across multiple themes. If you are interested in learning more about a Community of Practice, fill out the form found in the link above.
Working Groups are more informal organizations in HAIL that can be convened around themes, specific infrastructure, and emerging challenges. They focus broadly on advancing responsible and ethical approaches to data science and AI while addressing privacy, trust, and societal impact. Interested in becoming part of a Working Group? The HAIL Student Scholars Program is an extracurricular initiative for undergraduate students interested in exploring data and technology with a focus on people, communities, and social good.
