Kendra Oliver

Managing Director for Data Science

Kendra H. Oliver serves as the Managing Director of Data Science at the Office of the Provost, University of Pittsburgh, reporting to the Associate Vice Provost for Data Science. In this role, she coordinates strategy with the Responsible Data Science (RDS) leadership team and stakeholders across the university. Kendra oversees the administration of the RDS@Pitt initiative, facilitates the growth of responsible data science across the university from within the Provost's office, and collaborates with the AVP for Data Science to advance university initiatives related to institutionalization of responsible data science.

Kendra's extensive background blends design, art, science, technology, and education. She specializes in visual science communications, leveraging digital tools, online education pedagogies, and data visualization to craft compelling scientific narratives. Before joining the University of Pittsburgh, she held positions such as Director of Design at Vanderbilt University's School of Medicine Basic Sciences and founded ArtLab Studio LLC. With a Ph.D. in Pharmacology and a Master of Professional Studies in User Experience Design, Kendra continues to drive impactful change by integrating her science communication expertise with the burgeoning data science field, fostering innovation, collaboration, and connection within the scientific community.
