As a senior undergraduate student nearing graduation, it can be jarring to think back to the state of AI, and more specifically Generative AI, my first semester of college. In late 2022, the first version of ChatGPT was gearing up to be released, meaning that while AI was still seeping its way into all walks of life, it had not yet hit the exponential increase of usage and integration that has been seen the past few years.

To address these critical issues, leading researchers and practitioners will convene at AIRET 2025 - The First International Workshop on Agentic Intelligence: Risks, Ethics, and Trust, taking place November 11, 2025, in Pittsburgh. AIRET 2025 will bring together experts from artificial intelligence, philosophy, law, cybersecurity, and policy to examine how agentic AI systems are reshaping the technological and ethical landscape.

This week we’re celebrating our community's reach including posters showcasing responsible data science in action shared during the Undergraduate Research & Creative Expression Fair, the GenAI Teaching & Learning conference keynote panel discussion and posters on practical classroom uses of generative AI. Were also gearing up for an EAAMO “Principles & Performance” makerspace—an interactive session to test ideas, build lightweight prototypes, and turn values into measurable practice.

The buzz around artificial intelligence is no longer just boardroom discussions or tech conferences. Today, AI tools are revolutionizing how millions of people tackle their daily tasks as simple as drafting emails and as advanced as analyzing complex data.

RDS@Pitt is excited to kick off another year of RDS Connects. This fall, we’re expanding our continuing with Server-side chats, the RDS Scholar program, and deepening collaborations across campus and with our Advisory Board. Weaving Together Identities and Emotions at Data Science Day 2025 

The Center for Creativity partnered with RDS@Pitt for Data Science Day 2025 to create a hands-on art installation encapsulating people’s emotions and feelings about AI throughout the conference.

The Center for Creativity (C4C) is an inspiring space that encourages bold exploration, boundary-pushing, and the joy of making, all grounded in connection and imagination.
